People of Karachi are witnessing swarms of locust flying all over their city from Balochistan's coastal areas. Sindh minister of agriculture Ismail Rahu has suggested Karachiites to take advantage of the situation and make delicacies such as biryani and curries with the insects.

The insects were first seen in the Malir agricultural area of Karachi. Because of which it was feared that crops spread over hundreds of acres of land would be ruined. However, Ismail Rahu said that these insects did not damage the crops in Malir. He, instead, assured that fumigation or insect-killing spray would be arranged in these areas.

The insects better known as Tiddi dal or grasshoppers were seen covering the skies of different parts of Karachi. The News International reported that the videos of swarms of locusts has been shared on social media in which they are seen flying in the sky. And taking a jibe at the concerned situation the agriculture minister said, "They have come all the way here so the residents should eat them." A Karachi resident named Zoe Khan jokingly said on the statement of Sindh minister Muhammad Ismail that when tomatoes are expensive we eat grasshoppers. Meanwhile, in Thar's Chachro area, restaurants are selling biryani and curry dishes made from locusts.
