J&K: Govt completes highest road length in the country measuring 11,400 km under Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojna
Going another step further with its infrastructure plan, Indian Government has carried out another major task successfully in the Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir. The Govt has completed the construction of the highest road in the country that measures 11,400 km and is lengthwise, the highest road so far under Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojna,PMGSY in this year. The region witnessed lengthiest road construction covering 1,838 habitations so far.
In information received by the Dept. of Information and Public Relations on social media, "Jammu and Kashmir achieves highest PMGSY road length in country so far this year, completes 11,400 km span covering 1,838 habitations".
The PMGSY is an initiative set up by the central government to provide good all-weather road connectivity to unconnected villages in the country. It is going to play a crucial role in the rural connectivity of the region.
In a tweet, Deputy Commissioner of Ganderbal, Dr. Piyush Singal said that a beautiful piece of infrastructure is coming up in rural areas and would be no less than a lifeline to rural areas. Among the inspected five ongoing road projects of Ramnagar PMGSY division, the target of 120 kms is achieved already and 70 kms so far got macadamized this year.
According to the latest figures received by the state governments under a survey to identify core network as part of the PMGSY, the programme aims to cover about 1.67 lakh unconnected habitations.
