30 Nov 1971: Remembering brave heroes of 1971 war who were posthumously awarded Vir Chakra, for displaying utmost courage and excellent determination on the battlefield

Hav Budhi Bhallabh was a platoon Havildar in a Battalion of the Mahar regiment. In 1971 war, being held in front of heavy firing by enemy bunkers in Eastern sector, when half of the troops in his platoon were either killed or wounded, he steadfastly kept moving the ammunition from those wounded/martyred to the ones firing back at the enemy bunkers. Soon after, he himself was hit by a machine gun while crawling to the enemy bunkers and was martyred on the spot. On displaying such extreme courage and determination in 1971 war, his strong headedness and fearlessness will keep inspiring the youth of the nation.
 
 
Naib Subedar Mam Chand Sharma of Mahar Regiment led his men in the 1971 war when they were held amid acute firing by the enemy in the Eastern sector. He took charge of the machine gun post in crisis and while leading his troop, he showed supreme leadership. He had received a bullet in the chest during the continuous firing but before succumbing to his injuries he displayed highest order of gallantry and bravery causing casualties of the enemy. He received Vir Chakra posthumously.
 
 
Rifleman Man Bahadur Pun and Rifleman Moti Kumar Newar were awarded Vir Chakra posthumously for their incredible heroism in the war of 1971. While sacrificing their lives for the nation on the battlefield they showed exemplary courage and unbelievable gallantry. Their fearlessness broke the morale of the enemies in the war and filled the countrymen with great pride.
