Pakistan was facing much criticism after the drastic Pulwama attack on the security forces, in which more than 40 CRPF soldiers were martyred. India took avenge of this attack exactly after 12 days of this incident and reported to have killed over 200 terrorists in Balakot camp of terrorist outfits. In the aftermath of both the incidences, Pakistan is drawing much flak from various countries across the world over its support to the terrorists.
Since Pulwama attack was planned and executed by Jaish-e-Mohammad, Pakistan was under duress to act on the terrorist outfit flourishing on Pakistan’s soil. Hence, Shehryar Khan Afridi, the Interior Minister of Pakistan, in a televised media briefing informed that over 44 terrorists of proscribed group JeM, including the brother and the son of JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar, namely, Maulana Abdul Rauf Asghar and Hamaad (Hamza) Azhar were immediately taken into preventive custody. The Pakistani media presented this move of Pakistan as a massive measure to crush terrorism.
Pakistan manoeuvre to befool the world community
According to the sources, the Pakistan Government has almost begged to JeM terrorists for cooperation in the preventive detention to ease international pressure. The arrested terrorists are getting VIP treatment. Many of them are kept in VIP guest houses and lodges under ISI cover. Though Pakistan has been using it as a manoeuvre to appease international community but it is difficult to believe that Pakistan actually does anything to contain terrorism from its soil. In 2018, a video showing the terrorists of Jamaat-ud-Dawa and the Pakistan Interior Minister Shehryar Afridi was leaked in which the Minister was assuring the terrorists of their safety. Minister purportedly heard saying, “Inshallah! Till the time we are in power and PTI government is in the National Assembly of Pakistan, no mother's son would be able to touch Hafiz Saeed sir”.
Call for Naya Pakistan is no different
Though the Pakistan government is making all the effort to show that the Imran leadership is doing everything for transforming Pakistan yet the leaked video clearly showed that present Pakistan is no different from the earlier regimes. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of Imran Khan is supportive of terrorists in Pakistan. In early 2018, PTI government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa granted over 300 million to the Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak town of Pakistan, which is also known as the ‘University of Jihad’, for raising several indoctrinated terrorists for Taliban and other banned terror outfits. Though this move was widely condemned yet the government called it a contribution for better education and learning.
It is highly unlikely that Pakistan would take any action against terror outfits
Pakistan is using old tactics, after the Balakot attack and giving false assurances that it will eliminate terrorism and it will not provide safe heavens to terror groups. The same assurances were given by Pakistan immediately after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks but the terrorist attacks on India, with the support of Pakistan, continued.
Pakistan admitted that they are in touch with Masood Azhar
Within 24 hours of the crackdown on terrorists in Pakistan, the Pakistan Army spokesperson, Major General Asif Ghafoor, told CNN that, “Jaish-e-Mohammed does not exist in Pakistan”. But his statement clearly reflects that Pakistan army is hand in glove with terrorist Masood Azhar, who is waging a proxy war in Kashmir by brainwashing hundreds of Pakistani youth. It is also pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi admitted that Mashood Azhar is in Pakistan and he told the BBC that Maulana Masood Azhar was ‘very unwell at his house in Pakistan; unable to move out’. This admission of Pakistan Foreign Minister busted the Pakistan army claim that Jaish-e-Mohammad does not in Pakistan.
Jaish warned Pakistan establishment and liberals
The recently released audio statement of Masood Azhar through his spokesperson Saifullah, Azhar warned the establishment of Pakistan and the liberals within the country, against a 'crackdown'. In this audio statement, he said, “Our peer sahab Qureshi ji is embarrassingly being seen giving justifications. Neither the pressure is ending, nor the worries”. It is said in a clear indication that Pakistan must toe the line of terrorists otherwise they can change the government of the country.
It is highly likely that the UNSC 1267 committee would designate Masood Azhar as an international terrorist but if the Pakistan flimsy action on terrorists and their outfits are considered true by the international community then the world is surely going to see a major catastrophe that will affect not only India but the entire world.
