Lok Sabha Election 2019: Let us understand why did Jammu voted for BJP again?

The entire state of Jammu and Kashmir is divided into six parliamentary seats. Three seats are in Kashmir, two in Jammu and one in Ladakh. In 2014 BJP registered its victory on three seats of the state in Jammu and Ladakh whereas PDP won three seats in Kashmir region. Jitendra Singh won Uddhampur seat and Jugal Kishore won Jammu seat. Both the candidates of Jammu have repeated the victory this year as well. Jitendra Singh and Jugal Kishore were polled 61.18% and 57.72% votes respectively. Therefore, let us understand why did the voter of Jammu choose BJP this time. Let us understand what difference BJP has made that the people of Jammu put their faith in BJP again:

Construction of Bunkers to check infiltration in Jammu: To tame the menace of infiltration from Jammu region, the government has expedited the construction of 14,460 bunkers and it is expected that it will be completed by September-October this year. 1,500 bunkers along the border with Pakistan in Jammu region have already been constructed.

Compensation in certain cases: NDA Government introduced compensation for death or injury of humans and animals: Government will give compensation of Rs 5 lakh in case of loss of human life and Rs 50,000/- per milch animal. Compensation in case of house and crop damage will also be given. Rs 5.5 Lakh is provided to 26,000 refugees from Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) and 6000 jobs are reserved for Kashmir Hindus, who flee from Kashmir during the terrorism of 1990s.

Jobs for people living along IB and LOC: Special Police Officers (SPOs) jobs, which were hitherto going only to the residents of Kashmir, would also be given to the families living along the Line of Control (LOC) and IB. Government has mandated State police to engage 2,000 SPOs within 10 km of the fence of LOC and IB.

Relief and rehabilitation packages for real victims in J&K: The package of Rs. 80,000 crore includes money for providing relief and rehabilitation of last year flood victims, rehabilitation of West Pakistan refugees and Kashmir pandits, roads and highways, health and tourism was allocated by the Modi led government.

Development Projects in Jammu: In Jammu, PM Modi inaugurated the phase-II of the Baglihar power project at Chanderkote and laid the foundation stone of four-laning of Udhampur-Ramban (40 km) and Ramban-Banihal (32 km) sections of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. He also laid the foundation of 624 MW Kiru Hydroelectric Project to be constructed over River Chenab in Kishtwar district by the name ‘Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Ltd (CVPPPL)’.

Education: Prime Minister laid the foundation of the Northern Regional Centre of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Campus Jammu coming up over 15.25 acres of land at Kerian in Jammu at an estimated cost of Rs 16.40 crore. He also inaugurated University Institute of Engineering & Technology Janglote, Kathua. He launched entrepreneurship and career development hub at Jammu University.

Bridging the disparity between different regions of J&K: The central Government hitherto had adopted Kashmir centric attitude and neglected the other two bigger and vital regions of J&K. It is perhaps for the first time that the two other regions were also focused by the central government under the leadership of PM Modi. Hence, the people of J&K again put the faith in BJP government.
