Almost 73 years passed by, Pakistan still occupies the territories of India illegally. In 1947, what Pakistan did not get agreeably, it conspired to illegally occupy. It was the sovereign state of Jammu and Kashmir. To invade the erstwhile state and capture the larger portion of it, Pakistan planned a gruesome attack. It then managed to capture the areas of Jammu Kashmir which turned into POJK, Pakistan Occupied Jammu Kashmir. The J&K state was then administratively comprised of four regions, Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Pakistan army with their well-trained hired agents had started aggression in the areas by plundering and looting the minority houses. They trampled over the homes and hearths, outraged the modesty of the women and compelled women folk to commit collective suicide to save their chastity and modesty. The handful ones who were fortunate enough to make a narrow escape managed to come to this side of the state. The involuntary displacement due to Pakistani external aggression forced lakhs of innocent people to flee from violence hit region. There were blatant violations of human rights.
The geography of Jammu and Kashmir that got moulded by the World & What India stood by
Pakistan illegally captured three major regions namely Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Gilgit-Baltistan. This external aggression led to one third of the total area of Jammu and Kashmir fall under the illegal occupation of Pakistan. After Independence of India, the then Maharaja who was sovereign head of J&K had acceded to India and unconditionally merged the state of Jammu and Kashmir signing Instrument of Accession, IoA. In other words, on October 26th, 1947 the state of Jammu and Kashmir acceded to India legally and constitutionally. The country never gave up its claim on the region, though Pakistan has now an illegal control over POJK. However, neither people from Pakistan, India or the world know the true story behind POJK.
India had passed a resolution on 22 February,1994 which states that “The state of Jammu and Kashmir has been, is and shall be an integral part of India and any attempts to separate it from the rest of the country will be resisted by all necessary means. India has will and capacity to firmly counter all designs against its unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity and demands. Pakistan must vacate the areas of the India state of Jammu and Kashmir, which they have occupied through aggression and resolves that all attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of India will be met resolutely.” The Resolution was unanimously adopted.
The alarming situation and the strong message/action that needs to be sent across ‘loud and clear’
Pakistan has no locus standi in Jammu and Kashmir and its illegal forcible occupation over the area of Indian territories from the past seven decades is a gross violation of the international law. From past many years Pakistan has raised several terrorist camps in these areas and trained many terrorists for infiltration into Jammu-Kashmir and other parts of the country. The people who are living around here are also fed-up from these terrorists’ activities, camps and their organisations. They are facing many atrocities and discrimination under Pakistan's rule. Therefore, the situation in POJK is alarming and it needs world attention. Pakistan must vacate the areas of POJK which it has illegally occupied and hand over the same to India being a legitimate claimant of the area or the country must be ready to face the dire consequences. Particularly, Indian armed forces intervention is required to regain the lost territories of erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. Let us all pledge that we, the Indians will not rest till the lost territories are retrieved back.
