27 February 1990, When another Kashmiri Hindu Navin Saproo paid a huge price for being a Hindu

 

Navin Saproo The horrifying year of 1990 claimed many Hindu lives in the valley, it was a gruesome period when the neighborhoods were getting attacked and the place vacant with Kashmiri Hindus. There were number of killings that went unnoticed or were just not given any attention to.

 

Navin Saproo, a resident of Habba Kadal, Srinagar was employed with Central Government service. While returning from his office on 27th Feb 1990, the terrorists surrounded him and attacked with multiple bullets in broad daylight. Near Kanya Kadal right before the onlookers he was shot but no one steppped forward to help the unconscious Saproo. However, a only Hindu woman present there showed courage and frantically pleaded with the terrorists to spare the young man's life but all in vain. She was pushed back. Dancing around the shot body of Navin Saproo, terrorists shot at him repeatedly avoiding any vital organ just to prolong his agony and he bleeded profusely.

 

As the wailing relatives of the young man took away his body in a police van, the terrorists followed in a truck right up to the cremation ground, dancing and singing all the way. The shameless and gruesome act continued till the body of Navin Saproo, a Kashmiri Hindu was reduced to ashes.
