64,951 Kashmiri Pandit families from the valley residing in parts of the country, informs MHA in the Lok Sabha

Kashmiri Pandits who were forced to flee from the valley in 90s, reside in parts of the country today and the number of such families is no less than 64,951.The Ministry of Home Affairs has informed the Lok Sabha that total number of registered migrant families from Jammu and Kashmir who are currently residing in parts of country is 43,618 in Jammu, in Delhi/NCR it is 19,338 and in other states/UTs is 1995.
 
 
While replying to a question in written in the Lok Sabha, the ministry shared this information and disclosed the registered number of Kashmiri pandits, commonly termed as migrants today, who left the valley in the 1990s under fear and are currently residing in parts of the country.
 
 
In order to encourage the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits back at their ancestral places in Kashmir valley, approval was given to the Govt. of J&K for implementing schemes under the PM’s development package, 2015, the MHA informed the upper house.
 
 
The Ministry of Home Affairs also added that the National Crime Records Bureau doesn’t not maintain data under the head ‘hate-crime’. Since the Indian Penal Code doesn’t define any crime as hate crime therefore the NCRB doesn’t maintain data under the head ‘hate crime’ the ministry told Lok Sabha.
 
 
Living in exile for around 30 years, Kashmiri Pandits residing around the country still hope to return to their ancestral homes in the valley. They were forced to flee from their homes in 90s for saving themselves from genocide. The registered numbers reveal the story of those migrants called Kashmiri Pandits, who have been fighting for their existence since years and have hoped for justice to be served.
