CISF now takes over the security of Jammu & Srinagar Airport

The Central Industrial Security Force, CISF has taken over the security of Jammu and Srinagar Airport now as the force replaces regional force of the Union Territory. With induction of CISF in the region, airports of Jammu and Srinagar will be under vigilance of CISF and not the local police. The unit will be headed by a Senior Commandant rank officer. CISF has a total of 349 units across the country.
 
The Induction ceremony of CISF taking charge of the security of the Union Territory got celebrated in presence of senior officials of CISF. During the ceremony, the officials emphasized on coordinated efforts by all agencies and stakeholders to ensure security of the airport while addressing all the CISF personnel. The senior officers also visited all the areas of airport including terminal building & airside and reviewed the security arrangement of airport. With this induction, total airports under CISF security cover are now raised to 63 as on date.
 
 
The induction ceremony was attended by senior officials of CISF, Airports Authority of India, CRPF and representatives of Airlines operators like Air India, Air Asia, Indigo, Spice jet, Go Air and other stakeholders. Shri V. S. Mann, Inspector General, CISF Airport Sector, was the chief guest on the occasion at Jammu and Shri M.A Ganapathy, Spl. Director General, CISF, Airport Sector HQs, New Delhi was the chief guest of the occasion at Srinagar.

Recalling the recent security-related lapses in Jammu Kashmir, the deployment of CISF is a major move by the Government.
