Shri Amarnath Yatra 2020 postponed due to COVID19, Govt to review the situation soon
In view of the prevalent crisis of COVID-19, uncertainty over Amarnath Yatra 2020 continues as it might not get organised due to pandemic coronavirus outbreak and lockdown across the country. Amarnathji Shrine Board on Wednesday met with Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and discussed the probability of organising Amarnath Yatra 2020.
Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu, Chairman of Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), presided over the 38th Board Meeting held at the Raj Bhavan.
The Board expressed its apprehension and held that as on date, it may not be possible to organize the Yatra 2020. Due to the current COVID-2019 pandemic situation being dynamic, appropriate decisions can be taken on organizing the Yatra on reviewing the situation in the coming future.

The meeting was attended by Shri D.C. Raina; Prof. Anita Billawaria; Dr. Sudershan Kumar; Dr. C.M. Seth and Prof. Vishwamurti Shastri. Shri Bipul Pathak, Chief Executive Officer; Sh. Anup Kumar Soni, Additional Chief Executive Officer; and other senior officers of the Shrine Board also attended the meeting. Swami Avdheshanand Giri Ji Maharaja and Dr Devi Prasad Shetty attended the meeting through video conferencing.
The Amarnath Yatra 2019 had got cancelled in the last year in wake of the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and if it gets postponed or cancelled this year as well, it will be the second time in a row.
