Since the early months of 1989, Pakistan sponcered terrorism was rampant in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Especially in the regions bordering districts of illegally occupied land of J&K by Pakistan or PoJK. Terror outfits like lashkar-e-taiba and more were operated from across the LoC who carried out attacks on common citizens of Jammu and Kashmir. Despite efforts being made to neutralise tensions by bi-lateral talks between both neighbours by the Indian government, nothing seems to change. Here is one more of the many terror attacks carried out by extremist Islamic terrorists on the common people of the state.

19 February 1999, may be listed as a “day of hope” between India and Pakistan as on the eventful day, then Prime Minister Shri. Atal Behari Vajpayee inaugurated and travelled on-board the new bus service - sada-e-sarhad - from Delhi and Lahore via the attari-wagah border. He then met Nawaz Sharif, who was then the prime minister of Pakistan. But all was not right in Jammu’s Rajouri district.

The Massacre: A group of terrorists surrounded a marriage procession in a village named Baliyara and fired mercilessly killing seven people in the procession. They did not stop there, instead they continued to another village, Mora Patta, where they brutally fired on Hindu villagers killing four and injuring eight others. These incidents sent shockwaves across the region.

Such incidents have marred the efforts put by government and local authorities to bring peace in the region. Not just that, Pakistan’s support to terrorism and fanatic expansion policy have resulted in war in just three months. As they backstabbed by waging a war in Kargil where Pakistani soldiers infiltrated, disguised as terrorists into positions on the Indian side of the Line of Control which serves as the de facto border between India and Pakistan. Although, Pakistan had to face an insulting defeat by Indian army’s “Operation Vijay”, but its support to anti-India Islamic extremists and terrorists continues.
