Total cases spike to 4067 nationwide, 1445 directly related to Tablighi Jamaat

As reported earlier, the Tablighi Jamaat event held in the Nizamuddin area in Delhi early this month has turned into a big threat for the country despite the Government putting in best efforts to keep the pandemic at bay. In wake of widespread COVID-19 across the states, the tally of Corona virus infected patients currently has gone up with 4067 cases with 109 deaths reported. Out of the total cases, 1445 are directly related to the Tablighi Jamaat event held in Delhi, reported MHA in a press conference today.
 
 
Of the total number of cases, 73 % are males and 26% females. The patients' age group reveals that 45% of cases are below 40 years, 34% between 41-60 years, and only 19% are above 60 years, according to the Joint Secretary, Health Ministry, Lav Aggarwal.
 
 
Speaking of the last 24 hrs, shockingly enough 693 new COVID-19 cases have come into light taking the total number of cases to 4067 while 13 patients have died in the last 24 hrs itself. The identified cases have 1445 patients from the Tablighi Jamaat only.
 
 
Meanwhile 1705 foreign Tablighi Jamaat members have been blacklisted for violation of visa rules. Government of India has today said that more than 25,500 Tablighi Jamaat workers and those who came in their contact have been put in quarantine. 2083 foreign Tablighi Jamaat workers have been identified and 1750 among them have been blacklisted by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
 
 
Due to corona outbreak nationwide, states are undergoing lockdown but as 21 states are directly affected by Tablighi Jamaat event with its members either staying or being quarantined there, five of Haryana villages have been sealed, as per MHA.
 
 
State wise, UP has a total of 305 confirmed cases of coronavirus with 27 cases reported in the last 24 hrs only who are Tablighi Jamaat members. While Delhi and Maharashtra’s tally of infected patients has shockingly gone over 500, the total number of cases across the states have only shot up after the Tablighi members are massively testing positive with each passing day.
 
 
Total confirmed cases in Jammu and Kashmir have gone up to 106 with recent 14 cases coming positive in the valley.
