While the Hindu Sarpanch Ajay Pandita’s cold-blooded murder on Monday by the cowardly Pakistan backed terrorists, has outraged the whole country, Ajay Pandita’s father, a very brave man himself has refused to give up in such adverse circumstances or regret the loss of their brave son. Omkar Nath Pandita, victim’s father is firm to return to his native place in Anantnag of South Kashmir after his son’s final rituals in Jammu. Although shattered, the only regret Pandit family has is that their son was hit from the back and had the terrorists of TRF shot him from front, Ajay would have taken up the bullets on his chest boldly.

After the brutal killing of Kashmiri Hindu Sarpanch Ajay Pandita Bharti in Anantnag yesterday, his father has expressed pride in his lost son while cremating his body in Jammu today. He swears to return back to their home in South Kashmir’s Anantnag with the whole family as it was his son's only wish. Kashmiri Pandit Sarpanch Ajay Pandita on his final journey was wrapped in the tricolour before being cremated, while his family and friends mourned his loss in Jammu today.

Meanwhile, the shocking incident has not only fumed everyone but has also exposed the genocidal intent of Islamic force as well as the hatred against Kashmiri Pandits in the valley yet again. Pakistan’s terror outfit, ‘The Resistance Front’, apparently a revised name of Lashkar-e-Taiba has taken the responsibility for the assassination of Sarpanch Ajay Pandita.

On Monday evening, Ajay Pandita, the Hindu Sarpanch of Lukbawan, Larkipora in Anantnag and a Congress party member was shot dead by armed terrorists in an extremely cowardly attack as he was hit by bullets from the back, similar to the killing of Tika Lal Taploo during the Kashmiri Hindus genocide in 1990.

When Kashmiri Hindu Sarpanch Ajay Pandita became Ajay Pandita ‘Bharti’ and what made him return to valley after migrating to Jammu with his family during 1990 Kashmiri Hindu Exodus

Omkar Nath Pandita, a grieving father of Ajay Pandita says that anti-social elements who don’t want Kashmiri Pandits to stay or return in the valley took life of my son but people who chose my son as the head of Lukabawan are by our side. He is firm on the belief that in no circumstances would they leave their ancestral homes fearing threats by anti-national elements. He is only regretful for the fact that his son was attacked from the back, in a cowardly act. The devastated family of the 40 yr old Ajay Pandita despite being shattered refuses to bow down before terror or hatred against Pandits in the valley. They also protested near the Anantnag district hospital on Monday crying for justice, where their son breathed his last.

Remembering his son, Omkar Nath Pandita said that his son in all of his school records was named Ajay Pandita but he was so dedicated to the motherland that he added to his last name ‘Bharti’ at the age of 21 and thus became Ajay Pandita ‘Bharti’, as per his present documentation as well.

Ajay Pandita, inspired by the Indian Army soldiers’ bravery risked his life on several occasions by choosing to move back to his ancestral home in Kashmir valley once they migrated to Jammu. “He was as brave as a soldier ready to risk his life on motherland and always looked upto the Security Forces stressing upon how they safeguard us at the borders and we, at least can stand strong for our own purposes, not fearing anti-social elements and armed terrorists targeting Hindus in the valley”, added Ajay’s proud father.

Recounting 1989-90 horror, Omkar Nath Pandita said that “after we migrated to Jammu during that time we lost all our assets to Islamist forces back in our ancestral place in South Kashmir but Ajay was adamant to return and he did return with all of us, put everything together with his hard work went on to own a place as well as a good living for himself and around.” Summing up, Omkar Nath says that there is no chance we will not return to our home in Anantnag.

While Pakistan-backed Islamist terrorism continues to target Hindus in the valley, the Kashmiri Hindus have from years continued to face persecution as minorities in Kashmir

It has been 30 yrs, when Kashmiri Hindus were made to flee from the valley during 1989-90 with mass murders and brutality at peak around the region. The screaming of Kashmiri Pandits continues to echo in and around the valley ever since. All Kashmiri Hindus are marked as ‘Wajib-ul-qatl’(eligible for murder) by Pakistan, in the words of Kashmiri Pandits themselves living in the valley.

Meanwhile, in a significant move, Sarpanches in Ganderbal are holding silent protest against killing of Ajay Pandita, demanding justice for slain ajay pandita and making it clear that such acts of terrorism won’t be tolerated in any condition. All the political parties have also condemned the attack expressing shock over the incident.

Condemning the act in his strong statement, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh took to his social media handle to pass his sincere condolences to the Pandit family and giving out a loud message to the Pakistan backed terrorists trying in vain to defeat the process of establishing grassroots democracy in Jammu and Kashmir.

Ever since the central government announced the amended domicile laws in Jammu and Kashmir last month in favor of the migrant Kashmiri Pandits who finally hoped to return to their native place, terror outfits like TRF have been openly giving out threats.
