TISS-_1  H x W:

After the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) research paper called Kashmir ‘India Occupied,’ while also blaming the Indian Army for domestic violence in the valley, the institute has now not only come under the scanner for peddling lies and misleading facts, but it has also received the wrath of people across the country who have bashed TISS for endorsing such deceptive research papers on the name of academic freedom.

In what can be termed as a complete fraud, TISS Hyderabad after approving a research paper that called Kashmir ‘India Occupied’, has now tried to defend itself by saying it had no clue of the research paper and they are initiating an enquiry against the girl who wrote the paper. The research paper not only called the valley ‘India Occupied Kashmir’, but it also blames the Indian Army for ‘domestic violence in the valley’. The dissertation paper by this student at TISS Hyderabad has been titled ‘“Engendering Conflict: Understanding the impact of Militarization, Conflict and Pandemic-Induced Lockdown on Domestic Violence in India occupied Kashmir”.

TISS now claims that the Institute does not endorse the title and action has been initiated for the fact finding.

However, social media is flooded with strong reactions from people across the country and angry netizens are not yet ready to buy another lie by the Institute who already has a repetitive history of peddling lies and promoting anti-India projects.

While highlighting previous ‘misleading’ facts endorsed by TISS, some of the netizens have called the Institute ‘JNU of south’, others have recalled previous ‘anti-national’ comments TISS includes in its research papers. Such as calling India ‘colonizer and imperialist’ a several times. Here are a few of the reactions:

Meanwhile, some of the facts enough to expose a bunch of lies by TISS are that the paper was supervised by Dr. Nilanjana Ray from the Institute. Other unacceptable comments this paper contains are, “Indigenous Kashmiri researchers have shied away from working on domestic violence since recognition of domestic violence as a "serious gender-based concern in the valley" will contribute to the larger Indian state rhetoric of vilifying Kashmiri men which will then validate the Indian state’s imperialist intentions on the pretext of "protecting and rescuing Kashmiri women.”

Here are some of the screenshots of anti-national statements approved by TISS and later coming out in its defense,

The paper blames the Indian army for domestic violence in the Kashmir valley and says, “All issues of gender-based violence in Kashmir is impacted by the ongoing conflict and militarization. So in order to resolve the issue of gender-based violence, the conflict and militarization need to be brought to an end. This will require the government to address the political aspirations of Kashmiris for self-determination an autonomy.”

The research papers thus first glorified by TISS and later pretending as having not approved them is only misleading like the facts that it publishes in its students' research papers in the name of academic freedom. Here, the objectives, as well as the intentions of this ‘so-called’ renowned institute hence, have come under the scanner.
