J&K Government sealed 3 JeI properties including house of separatist Syed Ali Geelani in Srinagar
Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday attached the property of Syed Ali Shah Geelani in Srinagar. The property in Srinagar's Barzulla neighborhood, according to the State Investigation Agency (SIA), belonged to the banned JeI and had been purchased in his name.
The District Magistrate (DM) Srinagar has ordered sealing of three properties of banned Jamat-e Islami (JeI) including two storied residential structures.
In the order issued on Dec 19, the DM quoted a communication No. SIA/SN/FIR-17/2019/7738-42 dated 16-12-2022 by State Investigation Agency (SIA) saying that during investigation of case FIR No. 17/2019 u/s 10, 11, 13 UA(P) Act of P/S Batamaloo now being investigated by P/S SIA, three (03) properties have surfaced that are owned by or under possession of banned association Jamat-e-Islami and are located in the jurisdiction of District Srinagar and are to be notified in terms of section 8 UA (P) Act.
One of the properties includes land (one kanal and seven marla) at Khushipora Shalateng under survey No. 279 and 280 in the name of Jamat-e-Islami J&K through District President Bashir Ahmad Lone vide mutation number 2949. Another is land (one kanal and three marla) at Khushipora Shalteng under survey number 276 in the name of Jamat-e-Islami J&K through District President Bashir Ahmad Lone vide mutation number 2950.
The third property is a two-storey residential structures constructed over proprietary land measuring 17 Marla and 199 Sqft at Barzulla, Srinagar recorded in the name of Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Firdous Ahmad Asmi vide mutation No. 2646. 91-year-old separatist Geelani passed away at his Srinagar residence on September 1, 2021.
Amongst the ongoing banned JeI property seizure drive, this is the latest in the crackdown of JeI properties in Jammu and Kashmir. Prior to that on Saturday, the J&K State Investigation Agency (SIA) attached 11 properties of Jamaat-e-Islami in Kashmir Valley. Of the 11 properties, three were attached in Baramulla, two in Kupwara, one in Baramulla, and five in Ganderbal.
According to police spokesperson, the JeI properties have been sealed to choke the availability of funds for secessionist activities and to dismantle the ecosystem of anti national elements and terror networks hostile to India’s sovereignty.
