J&K Panthers Party chief Bhim Singh passes away at 81

Prof Bhim Singh, founder of the Jammu and Kashmir Panthers Party (JKPP), passed away on Tuesday in a hospital in Jammu.
 
"He was unwell for more than a year and passed away at a hospital in Jammu. He was 81. He is survived by his wife and son. The latter lives in London," family sources said.
 
Singh had been a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and was once an MP. Before founding the National Panthers Party, he was a member of the Congress and was the Vice President of the India Youth Congress from 1977 till 1978.
 
Condoling the demise, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Singh would be remembered as a grassroots leader who devoted his life for the welfare of Jammu and Kashmir. Modi wrote on twitter:-
 
 
Lieutenant Governor Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha also offered condolences to Bhim Singh's family over his demise and wrote on twitter.
 
 
His death has been mourned by a cross section of the society, including politicians, social workers, businessmen, etc.
