Gurudwara Chota Nankiana Sahib in Skardu of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir is in Shambles

Gurudwara Chota Nankiana Sahib in Skardu of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir holds a great importance for Sikh devotees as it's believed to have been visited by Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikh religion. He stayed at this place after coming back from China. It is also called as "Asthan Nanak Pir" by the local people.

 

 

There is a big building on top of a small hill, about 1 km from the main cross-road of Skardu. It is this building which is known as Gurdwara Sri Chota Nanakiana Sahib. Prakashasthan, langar hall, and rest rooms for Sikhs are on the hill. There are several shops on the main road below this building. These shops are owned by the Gurdwara.

 

 

Historically it was part of India till 1947. During Indo- Pak war of 1947 the areas of Jammu and Kashmir which were illegally occupied by Pakistani's, it comes under that region. Today, Prakash Asthan is in a dilapidated condition and has started collapsing and rest of the building also wears a deserted look. Only the shops around remain as they are looked after by the local population.
