LG Ladakh in place of RK Mathur
 
President of India on Sunday appointed Brigadier (Retd.) BD Mishra, as new Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. Mishra was Governor of Arunachal Pradesh prior to his new posting.
 
 
A communique issued by the President of India’s office said that Brigadier (Retd.) B. D. Mishra, the current governor of Arunachal Pradesh, has been appointed as L-G Ladakh. It added the resignation of Mr. Radha Krishna Mathur has been accepted.
 
 
BD Mishra (83) is a former brigadier of the Indian Army and is the former Commander of the Counter Hijack Force of the National Security Guard (NSG), popularly known as the Black Cat Commandos. He served the army for more than three decades. He is also credited with playing a role in tackling the Naga insurgency in 1963-64.
 
 
He has also served in Sino-India war in 1962 followed by 1965 and 1971 wars with Pakistan. He also fought against the LTTE as the Brigade Commander of the Indian Peace Keeping force in Jaffna, Vavuvniya and Trincomalee in Sri Lanka from 1987 to 1988. After his retirement, he had also volunteered for the 1999 Kargil War.
