NSG, Marine Commandos deployed in Srinagar ahead of G20 meet

National Security Guards (NSG) and Marine Commandos have been deployed in Srinagar city ahead of G20 meet in Jammu and Kashmir. Security has been put on high alert to neutralise any threat ahead of the prestigious summit.
The elite NSG Commandos on Thursday carried out an area domination and security sanitisation exercise in Lal Chowk area of Srinagar city. They took stock of the security arrangements in the city.
Marine Commandos have also been deployed in the Dal Lake for the security of the G20 meeting at SKICC. The marine Commandos have taken rounds of the Dal lake to counter terrorist threats. This is for the time in the history that Kashmir valley is gearing up to host the prestigious G20 summit.
ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that elaborate security arrangements have been made ahead of G20. A three-tier security cover will remain to ensure incident free events. Guests will come on May 22 and leave on May 25, he said.

"For air surveillance, anti drone equipment is being set up. We are taking help from NSG and the army for the same, ADGP added.
There will be no restrictions during the G20 meeting. Some people are spreading these rumours and they will be identified and brought to justice, he said.
The event which will take place from 22 May to 24 May at SKICC on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar, is expected to have a positive impact on the tourism and trade sectors of the region.
Earlier on 17 May, Jammu Police issued an advisory asking the general public to remain cautious towards some suspicious telecommunications spreading rumours regarding the G20 meet to be held in the Kashmir valley.
