Islamist terrorists on Monday night shot dead Deepu in Anantnag district of J&K. Deepu, a resident of Majalta village of J&K’s Udhampur district was working there at an amusement park to earn livelihood for a blind brother, an ailing father and a pregnant wife. He was the sole bread winner of his family.
 
He was the sole breadwinner of the family. My eyes are defective for the last four years. My father is visually impaired, he can't work. We are completely destroyed. We want justice. What was our fault?: Brother of Deepu told ANI.
 
 
Deepu was shot at chest thrice by the bike borne terrorists before fleeing away. In the injured condition, Deepu was taken to the nearest hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
 
In the long list of selective killings by terrorists, this is the second one this year. In February, terrorists had killed a Kashmiri Hindu in Pulwama. The deceased Sanjay Sharma was working as a bank guard in his village. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
 
Prior to that in November last year, two non-muslim labourers working in brick kiln namely Monish Kumar and Ram Sagar were selectively killed by terrorists in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.
 
Official data suggests that terrorists carried out around 29 targeted attacks in Kashmir in the year 2022, especially on civilians that included non-local labourers and non-Muslim staff and launched around 12 attacks, including grenade lobbing on security forces posted in Kashmir valley.
 
The deceased included three local Panchayat representatives, three Kashmiri Hindus, a local female singer, a non-Muslim bank manager from Rajasthan, a non- Muslim teacher from Jammu, a salesman and eight non-local labourers. At least 10 non-local workers left injured by the terrorist in the attacks.Three policemen were also killed in the targeted attacks carried out near their residences, as per official data.
