LG J&K Manoj Sinha on Thursday inaugurated Tirupati Balaji Temple in Sidhra Jammu. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh and Union Tourism Minister G Krishna Reddy were also present on the occasion. Though Union Home Minister Amit Shah was scheduled to inaugurate the temple through virtual mode but due to some indispensable work, he couldn’t join.
Tirupati Balaji Temple, located amidst the scenic Shivalik hills in Majeen Sidhra area of Jammu, opened it’s doors for the devotees on Thursday. The temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, a form of Lord Vishnu who has emerged to save the the mankind from the sufferings of Kaliyuga.
This temple is the replica of Tirupati Balaji Temple situated in Andhra Pradesh. It has been built on 62 acres of land with approx cost of Rs 30 crores and construction work was completed in the span of two years.
The temple falls on the route between Jammu and Mata Vaishno Devis’s route Katra. This temple in Jammu region is set to boost religious tourism in the UT. Devotees who visit Maa Vaishno Devi Temple will also be able to visit Tirupati Balaji in Jammu.
The temple has been built by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the trust which manages temples including Tirupati Balaji Temple located in Andhra Pradesh.
The artisans who built the temple are from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu and the stones that have been used in it’s making were brought from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
It is the sixth Balaji temple constructed outside of Andhra Pradesh, with the TTD having previously built temples in Hyderabad, Chennai, Kanyakumari, Delhi and Bhuvaneshwar.
TTD is building Balaji temples all over the country so that those who are unable to visit the Tirupati Balaji Temple in Andhra Pradesh can visit these temples in their cities.
TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy had earlier said, " We have almost completed the construction of the temple and it will be inaugurated on June 8 and will be thrown open for the devotees free of cost. The rituals will start from June 3.”
Reddy had said that whatever system and practise being followed in Tirumala, will be followed here as well.
