Indian Army Colonel, a Major and a deputy superintendent of J&K Police martyred in encounter with terrorists in J&K’s Anantnag

Indian Army Colonel, a Major and a Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police have lost their lives in an encounter with terrorists in J&K’s Anantnag.
 
Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish, deputy superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat were critically injured in the gunfight and died later, officials said.
 
The operation against the terrorists had begun on Tuesday evening in Gadole area but was called off during the night.
 
This morning, the hunt for the terrorists resumed after information started trickling in that they were spotted at a hideout, the officials said. Colonel Singh, leading his team from the front, attacked the terrorists. However, the terrorists fired upon him and he was critically injured.
 
An Indian Army Colonel commanding a Rashtriya Rifles Unit along with a Major have lost their lives in an encounter in Anantnag with terrorists in Kashmir. The officer was commanding 19 RR: Indian Army officials.
 
 
Operation was still going on when the last reports came in. Senior Police and Army officials are present at the encounter site to monitor the situation.
 
Meanwhile two terrorists were killed while one army jawan also lost his life, three others including one police SPO injured in the encounter in Rajouri district.
