More than 26,000 young aspirants from Jammu and Kashmir participated in an Army recruitment rally organized in the border district of Poonch after a gap of five years, officials said on Sunday.
The recruitment drive, which began on November 8 at the Advanced Landing Ground in Surankote, aimed to fill 307 vacancies for Soldier General Duty in the Territorial Army, along with 45 positions for clerks and tradesmen.
According to Army officials, candidates for Soldier General Duty posts were eligible from 31 tehsils across the Jammu division, including Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, and Jammu districts. However, for clerk and tradesman positions, applicants from across Jammu and Kashmir could participate.
Expressing satisfaction with the overwhelming response, an official from the Army Recruitment Office said, “Over 26,000 enthusiastic candidates participated in the selection process, showcasing their physical and mental readiness to serve the nation during the 10-day rally.”
He mentioned that approximately 4,000 candidates have successfully passed the physical tests and will now move on to the medical examination stage.
