In a surprising turn of events, former Pakistani minister Fawad Choudhary couldn’t stop showering praise on Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi after she showed up in Parliament on Monday, December 16, carrying a bag with “Palestine” written on it.
Choudhary praised Priyanka Gandhi, calling her the “granddaughter of a great freedom fighter like Jawaharlal Nehru,” and said she showed real “courage” by standing “tall among small-minded people.” He even criticized Pakistani MPs, saying none of them had the guts to do something similar.
In a post on X, he posted, "What else could we expect from a granddaughter of a towering freedom fighter like Jawaharlal Nehru? Priyanka Gandhi has stood tall amidst pigmies, such shame that to date, no Pakistani member of Parliament has demonstrated such courage.”
For those following Priyanka Gandhi’s politics, her support for Palestine isn’t new. As the Congress MP from Wayanad, she has often criticized Israel’s actions in Gaza. Earlier this year, in June, Priyanka made headlines for slamming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. She accused him and his government of “barbarism” and called Israel’s actions in Gaza “genocidal.” This statement came after Netanyahu defended his country’s war in Gaza during a speech to the US Congress.
