Deputy Superintendent of Police Aman Thakur was martyred during an encounter between security forces and holed up Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district. Thakur was leading the police team from the front in the gunfight with terrorists.
Thakur was hit in the encounter with terrorists when police, army and CRPF cornered them in a cordon-and-search operation in J&K’s Kulgam district.
DySP Aman Thakur and three Jaish terrorists were killed in the gunfight. One army soldier had also laid down his life in the encounter.
Thakur hailed from Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir and he had joined the J&K Police Services in 2011. He had been heading the counter terrorism wing of J&K Police in Kulgam district for the last one and a half years and had played an instrumental role in killing terrorists in the area.
