 B.K Ganjoo

The Kashmiri Hindu exodus in the early 90’s was the result of terrorism which made Pandits scared of their Muslim brothers. It was a dark period when one could trust none and fake idea of secularism and so called Kashmiriyat was unmasked. B.K Ganjoo, a Kashmiri pandit too went through the same fate.

22 March, 1990

Ganjoo was a telecom engineer in Kashmir, a central employee and was coming home during curfew relaxation period . He didn't suspect that he was being chased by the terrorists as he had no reason to think that way. When he reached the vicinity of his house, his wife, somehow detected that he was being followed by unknown men. As Ganjoo entered his house, his wife swiftly bolted the door but couldn't resist the undeterred terrorists to make their way into the home.

Ganjoo in order to save his life ran up to third floor of his house and hid himself in the rice bin . Terrorists looked for him everywhere in the home but couldn't find him so they decided to leave but destiny came as death in the guise of his Muslim neighbor who informed the terrorists about his hiding in the rice bin. Terrorists upon knowing pumped six bullets piercing the tin and left him bleeding on the rice. While leaving terrorists said , let ur blood be soaked in the rice and let your children eat it.

Terrorists made Ganjoo's wife eat his blood soaked rice. The brutality of the terrorists can be gauged by the fact that even after killing Ganjoo, their hatred did not diminish, as they forced his wife and children to eat rice soaked in his blood.
