On June 22, 1990, a tragic and brutal incident occurred involving 52-year-old Makhan Lal Raina (a Kashmiri Hindu). Raina, a dedicated medical resident stationed at a dispensary in Khan Sahib, Budgam district, hailed from Kharyar, Srinagar (J&K). On that fateful day, he was abducted from his place of work by terrorists.
 
 
What followed was a horrific sequence of events-Raina was subjected to severe torture and ultimately shot dead by his captors. The brutality did not end there; his body was reportedly mutilated and chopped into pieces, reflecting the extreme violence of the act.
 
 
The remains of Makhan Lal Raina were eventually discovered in Dardpora, Budgam, marking a sorrowful end to a life dedicated to medical service and community care.
