The Shri Amarnath Yatra has surpassed the 1 lakh mark in just five days. Nearly 30,000 pilgrims paid obeisance at the holy cave of Baba Amarnath in South Kashmir on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, another batch of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims started their journey from the Panthachowk Srinagar base camp on Thursday under heightened security measures.
Starting on June 29, the Shri Amarnath Yatra will continue until August 19, during which the J&K administration has made all necessary preparations.
The annual yatra, which usually lasts for 45 days, is a major concern for the government amid the recent terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
