Indian Army Soldier Martyred in Sopore Encounter, J&K’s Baramulla District
 
 
Indian Army soldier Swr Pangala Kartheek got martyred during an encounter with terrorists in the Sopore area of J&K’s Baramulla district. The incident took place during a late-night operation carried out by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Gujjarpatti, Baramulla.
 
 
The security forces had launched the operation based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the area on 19 January. As they reached the site, they came under heavy fire from the hiding terrorists. Swr Pangala Kartheek, who was part of the operation, sustained critical injuries during the gunfight. Despite immediate medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries.
 
 
The Army, along with local police, continued the operation overnight, using drones to track the terrorists. Additional forces were deployed to secure the area.
 
 
The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army paid tribute to the martyred soldier, saying, “All Ranks of the Chinar Corps salute the supreme sacrifice of Braveheart Swr Pangala Kartheek, who laid down his life in the line of duty. Chinar Warriors salute his immense valour and sacrifice, express deepest condolences and stand in solidarity with the bereaved family.”
