In a big step towards connecting Ladakh’s remote villages, the Indian Army, along with Airtel, has installed 42 mobile towers in far-flung areas like Kargil, Siachen, Demchok, Daulat Baig Oldie (DBO), and Galwan. These places, which had no proper internet access before, now have high-speed 4G connectivity.
The Indian Army played a key role in overcoming the challenges of harsh weather and tough terrain to make this project possible. Soldiers worked tirelessly in freezing temperatures to ensure the towers were set up, proving their dedication not just to guarding the borders but also to improving the lives of people in these regions.
This new 4G connectivity will help locals with online education, healthcare, and government services. It will also boost tourism and bring better opportunities for the region. For the soldiers stationed there, it will make communication much easier.
This project is part of the government’s Vibrant Villages Programme, aimed at developing border villages.
