Nitin Gadkari Announces Completion of Rs 224 Cr Banihal Bypass in J&K, Reduces Travel Time

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, on Sunday announced the completion of a 2.35-km long, four-lane bypass near Banihal town on the Ramban-Banihal stretch of NH-44 in J&K. Built at a cost of Rs 224.44 crore, this important project aims to reduce traffic congestion caused by roadside markets and shops in Banihal.

The bypass includes four viaducts spanning over 1.5 km and three culverts. Initially, two lanes of the bypass have been opened for traffic, with full four-lane operation expected in about 15 days after junction development is completed.

This new road is a game-changer for travelers heading to the Kashmir Valley. It will cut down travel time, ensure smoother traffic flow, and ease the movement of tourists and defense vehicles. The bypass is also expected to boost tourism in the region while strengthening national security logistics.

Under the visionary leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji, this transformative project contributes to economic growth while elevating Jammu & Kashmir’s status as a premier tourist destination, Nitin Gadkari posted on X.
