
Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have paid tributes to the brave security personnel who made ultimate sacrifice in the ongoing anti-terror operation in Kathua. The death toll in the encounter which started on Thursday morning has now risen to four.
The encounter took place in a forested area in Kathua district, where security forces were tracking terrorists. During the gunfight, four J&K police personnel were martyred, and several others were injured. Two terrorists were also neutralized. A large number of weapons and ammunition were recovered from the spot.
Taking to social media platform X, LG Manoj Sinha expressed his grief and saluted the courage of the fallen heroes. He wrote, “I bow to the valorous martyrs of J&K Police, who laid down their lives for our motherland. My deepest condolences to their families. In ongoing Kathua encounter several terrorists were neutralised. J&K Police & Security Forces are on the job. Operation in progress.”
The administration has assured that strict action will be taken against terrorists and those supporting them. LG Sinha further said, “Every drop of blood of our martyrs will be avenged. We are committed to making J&K terror-free.”
Taking to social media platform X, CM Omar Abdullah also shared an emotional message, saying, “Pride and grief intertwine as we remember Balwinder Singh Chib, Jaswant Singh, and Tariq Ahmed, who laid down their lives during an anti-terror operation in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir. My heartfelt condolences to their families. Their sacrifice in the line of duty will always be remembered. May the departed souls rest in peace, and heartfelt prayers for the swift recovery of those injured.”
Security forces continue their search operations in the area, and the government has vowed to eliminate terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir.
