
After the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that claimed lives of 26 tourists — security forces have stepped up their crackdown on terrorists and their supporters in Jammu and Kashmir.
In the latest action, authorities demolished the house of a terrorist in Chotipora village of Shopian district. He is believed to be linked to the Pahalgam attack. Another house, belonging to terrorist Zakir Ahmad Ganie in Mutalhama village, Kulgam district, was also brought down. Officials said Ganie had been active in terror-related activities since 2023 and may have played a role in the deadly assault.
Earlier, the house of top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Adil Thokar, also known as Adil Guree, was also demolished. He is a resident of Guree village in Anantnag district and is one of the main accused in the Pahalgam attack. A reward of Rs 20 lakh has been announced for any concrete information that can help arrest him. Adil had reportedly gone to Pakistan illegally in 2018, got terror training there, and returned to the Valley last year.
In total, the houses of three terrorists including one each in Pulwama, Anantnag, and Shopian have been razed in connection with the Pahalgam attack.
Meanwhile, in another breakthrough, police arrested two terrorist associates from Thokerpora in Qaimoh area of Kulgam district on Friday and also recovered weapons from them. They are suspected of helping the attackers and are being questioned.
